WSW Town Haul Meeting July 2014 Minutes:
- In regards to elitism, remember the following. Do not confuse standards for elitism, do not confuse elitism for high standards: if your entries ever get rejected from submission, you have a right as a member to ask why it got rejected. At the same time, give new people a chance: in many case, content is greater than execution. You can still criticize people without being a jerk: remember to emphasize what they got right so they can keep improving their strengths. To quote ChibioChen, "Criticism is like rain: you should only give enough to feed a plant without killing the roots."
- When criticizing Touhou stories, remember not to harp too much on Canon vs. Fanon/Headcanon. Storytelling tends to trump Canon/Fanon every time. Besides, Zun gave us plenty of wiggle room for our fan works: you are free to use it!
- This community, admins and members, cares for its members. Do not think for one second that you are unappreciated, because you are. You are more loved than you think, and even if that's not true, you can still earn more love from others by sending love out. Go out and make friends, connect with others, leave honest comments on people's stuff. Appreciation/Love is not to be confused with fame. Having close friends will always beat having shallow fans. Plus, be on the lookout for Spaztique's new guide, Self-Development Wagon #6: Star Power Doesn't Work! (But Friendship Does!)
- A reminder: If a mod steps out of line, report it and be sure to bring it up in the next Town Haul Meeting! Hold our admins accountable for their actions if they harass or make inappropriate jokes. You, the members, are our system of checks and balances.
- After a 31-to-1 vote, Wilhiemthe2nd and RyuKenshin75 have been removed from the administration for inactivity. Like the other admins who left recently, they are still allowed in the community and have an opportunity to re-earn their status as admins.

NaNoWriMo 2019: Read a Book.
Here's the last bit of advice before I go off to start my novel, and it's the least brought up out there.
Read a really good book.
It will make you fall in love with literature, with storytelling, and will give you morale and inspiration to write your manuscript. Simple advice, but it goes a long way. So go on, have a good story, so you can make a good story.
I'll try to do NaNoWriMo streams whenever I can. I'll be on YouTube and Twitch, so keep an eye out.
NaNoWriMo 2019: Falling in Love with Your Story
Most of y'all have an idea of what genre of novel you're writing next month. Some are writing a dystopian scifi. Others are writing fanfiction. While others are writing a porn parody*. Well, I have some shock news for every one of you who are doing NaNoWriMo:
You're writing a romantic comedy.
It's a tale about a writing hobbyist who gets thrust into a relationship with a story they barely know about, and over the course of about a month (Or a little more if they're prepping) tries to cope with suddenly being married to this project. What wacky hijinks will ensue?
It's quite difficult to write a novel when you're not in love with it. You ha
Welcome to the New Youtu-- I mean NaNoWriMo 2019!
It's that time of year again, time for me (and some other Walfasers) to throw together a novel in a single month (Starting next month!).
I hopped on the website the other day, and hoo is it bad. The website takes several seconds to load, it's hard to submit information, and they deleted your buddies list. Now we have to re-add each other on the NaNoWriMo website if we want to keep tabs on each other. Hopefully, this won't slow us down in making a novel by the end of November. So roll call! Who's doing NaNoWriMo this year?
I'll try to keep y'all updated on both novel progress and how to get through the website as I find it more. I'll be a lo
NaNoWriMo 2018: Back into the Hype
It's that time of year again. While everyone else is getting spoopy, the real writers stay up at real writer hours to prep for National Novel Writing Month. And a few of us in the Wagon are prepared to write themselves a 50,000-word story through the month of November. So get hype!
So here are the NaNoWriMo porjects for 2018 so far in the Wagon:
(Untitled) by Gii828 (https://www.deviantart.com/gii828) - a Viking period piece about an assassination of a rogue jarl gone awry when one Viking betrays another, and now he must clear his name and get revenge.

In regards to Grammar Nazism, I think people should be more aware that others aren't as good at English as a native speaker. There are a lot of non-native English speaking users in the Wagon, so it's always a good idea to consider where the person might be coming from if their grammar or spelling is off. Speaking from experience: learning a second language is hard, and English has a lot of inconsistent rules that make it difficult for non-natives to master. A friendly correction is the much better option for addressing this situation rather than just outright being rude to them for making a mistake they might not have realized they made.
